The San Diego Zoo's department of Conservation and Research for Endangered Species (CRES)

The Center for the Reproduction of Endangered Species (CRES) at the San Diego Zoo has been developing a "Frozen Zoo" of viable cell samples since 1976 that now includes more than 350 species and sub-species. In April 2003, cells stored at this Frozen Zoo were used to produce a pair of cloned Javan bantengs, a rare cattle-like species). Find out more about CRES at their web site.
